Follow on Google News | Overseas Americans Week - Washington, DCThe Association of Americans Residents Overseas (AARO) announced today that a leadership delegation will visit Congress in Washington DC from Monday, May 7, through Friday, May 12, 2023.
By: AARO During Overseas Americans Week, the AARO delegation will meet with members of Congress and government agencies, including the State Department, the IRS and the Federal Election Commission. Meetings will also be held with scholars, think tanks, national organizations, and other key opinion leaders in Washington DC. https://aaro.org/ Agenda items include the elimination of citizenship- The delegation will take this opportunity to build on the newly launched "Dear 535 Campaign (https://aaro.org/ Said AARO President Doris Speer, "We are excited to finally be able to discuss these issues in person with our elected representatives in Washington DC. It is imperative that we help Congress understand how difficult it is for overseas Americans to comply with laws enacted without them in mind." This is an important year for AARO, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. As part of this important milestone AARO has been working on two new campaigns, the newly launched Dear 535 Campaign, as well as a new initiative to create a non-voting Congressional delegate for overseas Americans.
