She's the founder of Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI) and the PPGJ Press and Bookstore. She's a highly sought speaker, the author of numerous award-winning books for children and adults, and has authored a series of STEM educational materials. She conducts writing competitions each year for children and adults, is helping to preserve African-American history and culture, and is the recipient of a wide variety of awards for her work in the law and social justice endeavors. Tyner is a staunch supporter of literary and an advocate for the BIPOC community. The Spectrum Circle was founded in 2015 by Karen Maria Alston, a culture and lifestyle expert, entrepreneur, brand strategist, thought leader, and advocate for women. The organization is an inter-generational community where women can share, inform and inspire. The organization honors women in multiple fields encompassing the arts, finance, government, health, media policy, social impact, sports, technology, and other fields.
