Follow on Google News | Local Sierra Club Invites Public To How To Plan For Zero Waste, May 18Following a brief introduction by store owners Elana & Stephen Smith, the general meeting will cover such topics as bulk shopping, switching to re-usable products over single use/limited use/disposable products, how zero waste shopping benefits the whole community, and why shopping at One World Zero Waste store is more eco-friendly than purchases made at supermarkets and health food stores. "Customers can order locally and organically grown fruits and vegetables, as well as healthy breads, pastries, and more, ensuring they get the freshest and most specialized food in South Florida, without any wasteful plastic packaging," says Stephen Smith. "Being a ZERO WASTE store, we don't over-order food; we rely on customer orders to guide our weekly purchases," adds Elana Smith. "People place their orders Tuesday through Friday every week, we then procure the food from various local farm sources, and pick-up is on Monday and Tuesday. Not only is online ordering very easy, in-person pick-up lets customers bring in their own containers and produce/tote bags to refill." The Loxahatchee Group of the Sierra Club Florida Chapter invites everyone to attend this general meeting and learn how to incorporate more zero waste, ecofriendly, and health-conscious practices into everyday life.
