Researcher Bernard Moore, Ph.D. heads to Wewoka, Oklahoma to continue the research of his family roots. Dr. Moore announced today that he will be traveling to Wewoka to continue to investigate his family's roots. Dr. Moore, who has spent over a decade studying family lineage, is eager to deepen his understanding of his family history and the community in which his ancestors lived. "I am excited to continue the exploration of the rich history of Wewoka and to learn more about my family's origins." Further elaborating, "It is an honor to be able to connect with the past and to uncover the stories that have been passed down through generations,"
said Dr. Moore. "During my research, I will be examining newly discovered historical archives and records, conducting interviews with residents, and visiting historic sites across the region. I plan to incorporate this information within my comprehensive family tree, stories, and the experiences of my ancestors."
Dr. Moore has already created a screenplay for a mini-series based on the life and journey of his great-great-
great-grandfather, Tal Jones, who began life as a slave and would eventually leave a legacy of wealth through land ownership. The screenplay and mini-series have received numerous awards in some of the most prestigious film festivals across the country. Dr. Moore's goal is to assist individuals and families trace their own family histories through a series of lectures beginning next spring at several U.S. Presidential Libraries and one of the Smithsonian Museums. Dr. Moore emphasizes the importance of oral history. He gained a considerable amount of oral history from his mother as well as other relatives who passed around legendary stories from their past. He emphasizes that researching family history brings a wealth of benefits both to individuals and society, stating that "It can help you discover long forgotten stories about your ancestors, connect with distant relatives, and provide a sense of identity and belonging. At the same time, it can also contribute to a wider understanding of history and help preserve important cultures and social traditions.
