Follow on Google News | ![]() PPMCS - Neurogine to digitalise larges youth organisation in SabahPersekutuan Pengakap Malaysia Cawangan Sabah and Neurogine will collaborate to digitalise youth development activities and address digital poverty in Sabah.
By: Neurogine Group of Companies According Neurogine Group CEO Owen Chen Chee Onn, the customised platform valued at RM3 million, leverages Neurogine's experience and based wholly on Neurogine's existing technology palette. "We've the technology to enable PPMCS digitalise its operations in a rapid, efficient and effective manner," said Chen. "We anticipate a 90 day development period, leading to a roll out within six months, the period needed to familiarise PPMCS personnel with the platform. PPMCS will then take responsibility to operate this platform." PPMCS Chief Scout Commissioner Jamaludin @ Jamal bin Jinal said the collaboration is PPMCS's contribution to digitalisation efforts in Sabah and part of its 110 years or decacentennial celebration this year. "We've identified two challenges; inadequate digitalisation and a large digital divide between communities, youths and others. This collaboration exemplifies our efforts to digitalise our operations and provide youths with the necessary exposure and experience to contribute in a digital economy." This collaboration will have a ripple effect to create jobs and transform commercial and social activities in Sabah. "With adequate talent, it can attract investments into the state, resulting in expanded market opportunities for everyone." PPMCS will help develop interest of youths in the state, promote digital innovation and digitisation of its services. "We aim to have youths exposed to digital platforms that will prepare them become contributors in Sabah's growing digital economic growth," he said. PPMCS State Council Chairman Datuk Hj Yahamad bin Hj Budin said the platform will allow the efficient administration and communication among its six divisions, which comprise 48 districts and potentially reach more than 120,000 youths and adults. "We expect to realise cost savings, plug potential financial leakages and increase our reach with this platform. We are addressing the need to be digitalised and train youths needed to grow Sabah's digital economy," he said. "Inaction will force us to face digital poverty, a state of deprivation either due to the lack of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure or skills. We aim to narrow the digital chasm between urban and rural areas in the state with this collaboration," End
