Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. This day is recognized as a pivotal moment in American history, symbolizing the struggles, perseverance, and eventual liberation of African Americans.
