Los Buzos Unveils Carey Chen Masterpiece, Showcasing the Beauty of The Morro Puerco Lump

CAMBUTAL, Panama - June 14, 2023 - PRLog -- Los Buzos Resort & Fishing Lodge proudly presented a remarkable work of art this week, crafted by the renowned marine artist and angler, Carey Chen. The commissioned piece, a culmination of years of planning and execution, captures the essence of one of Los Buzos' premier fishing spots: The Morro Puerco Lump.

The Morro Puerco Lump, akin to its famous counterpart, Hannibal Bank, emerges rapidly from the depths, rising over 40 ft out of 400 ft, in an area where currents converge. This natural upwelling creates a thriving ecosystem, teeming with diverse marine life. Carey Chen's objective was to depict The Lump and the multitude of species that Los Buzos anglers encounter daily at this extraordinary location.

Having previously painted many of the iconic species found in Los Buzos during his visits since 2020, Carey Chen's artwork has become synonymous with individual rental homes and common areas. Guests often request accommodations based on their favorite artwork, such as Casita Mahi, Sailfish Suite, or the ever-popular Cabana Roosterfish. Moreover, the Black & Blue bar, adorned with Carey's pieces, has become a gathering place where patrons can enjoy a drink while immersing themselves in the vibrant artistry.

However, the challenge for this particular project was to bring together all the diverse species that inhabit this magnificent fishing spot, accurately representing both its geographical features and marine biology—a specialty of Carey Chen. In short, Carey's artistic prowess exceeded expectations, resulting in the creation of a stunning piece displayed in a unique "aquarium-style" setting at the bar. This masterpiece not only serves as an awe-inspiring work of art but also as an educational tool, providing new guests with a glimpse into the species and underwater geography they will encounter during their stay.
