By: Detroit Manufacturing Systems "We are creating a culture of service at DMS," stated Bruce Smith, Majority Owner, Chairman and CEO of Detroit Manufacturing Systems. "We believe in the power of building a business by building our people. We empower others to grow, rise and give back. Our commitment to our talent and communities allows us to accelerate positive change in the world." "Each of our "houses" picks an organization to support financially and through service hours," said Scott Cieslak, Chief Financial Officer, Detroit Manufacturing Systems. "The support efforts of each house will provide much needed assistance to local communities that will have a lasting impact on everyone involved." Throughout 2023, DMS houses will work together with community organizations in and around metro Detroit to provide outreach support and services to those in need. Earlier this year, Ashton House helped box food packages for Gleaners; Goodman House prepared meals at a local Ronald McDonald House; Lancaster House helped with "Feed the Homeless;" and there will continue to be many more initiatives throughout the year. DUDLEY HOUSE PROVIDES HOUSEHOLD STARTER KITS FOR SAMARITAS FAMILIES: The Dudley House, led by James DeLaHoussaye, Director of Program Management and Innovation at DMS, chose to work with Samaritas, Michigan's largest foster care and adoption organization, because they felt Samaritas' values aligned with DMS.' Samaritas works closely with communities all around the state of Michigan offering housing solutions, as well as goods and services to those in need. Last week, members of Detroit Manufacturing Systems' Dudley House came together with Ben Meachem, Chief Operations Officer for DMS, to purchase and pack Household Starter Kits for Samaritas Families. These kits include light bulbs, toilet paper, bath towels, buckets, dish soap, batteries, wash cloths, tissue, paper towels, dish towels, cleaning supplies, and laundry baskets. On Thursday, June 8, the kits were hand-delivered by DMS staff to Older Foster Youth members who are a part of the Samaritas community. These young adults, ages 16 -21, take part in the independent living program which prepares them to live independently as adults.
