FiberArt Collaborates with UNCA to Support Summer Weaving Class for New Media Department

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - June 22, 2023 - PRLog -- FiberArt, a leading provider of weaving resources and support, is excited to announce its collaboration with the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNCA) in sponsoring a summer weaving class for the New Media department. The class aims to introduce students to the rich history of weaving, teach various weaving techniques, and enable them to create their own tapestries.

Under the guidance of Victoria Bradbury, a professor in UNCA's New Media department, FiberArt has played a crucial role in creating and sponsoring the weaving class. The collaboration has allowed students to access essential resources for teaching weaving techniques, thereby enriching their educational experience and expanding their creative skills.

As part of the class curriculum, students have had the opportunity to visit FiberArt's mill for an insightful tour. The tour provides first-hand exposure to the operation of looms and allows students to witness the mesmerizing process of woven blankets coming to life in real-time.

In an exciting development, the students are incorporating augmented reality displays into their woven art pieces for an upcoming student art show scheduled for this fall. The art show will coincide with Black Mountain College's textile art show and the Anni Albers' students & peers' seminars. This collaboration ties in with the region's vibrant history in textiles and art, particularly with Black Mountain College and Western North Carolina's significant contributions.

The student art show, along with captivating lectures, will be held on UNCA's campus in September 2023. The event promises to showcase the artistic achievements of these talented students and celebrate the heritage of textile arts in the region.
