Follow on Google News | Yours Humanly Receives $213K Grant from the City of Concord, CAFunds will benefit 4,000+ students across ten elementary schools
By: Yours Humanly While classrooms are considered homogeneous for grade level, they are heterogeneous for reading ability—that is, within a grade, students are at different points in their reading skills. To promote early literacy and grade level proficiency, Yours Humanly will use the funds to provide picture books, chapter books, leveled reading books, and bilingual books for students and classrooms in need, and host two on-campus Family Literacy nights per school (fall and spring) to encourage parent engagement and reading at home. "We are deeply grateful to the City of Concord for awarding this generous grant and for giving us the opportunity to help thousands of students in need," said Sunny Singh, founder and CEO of Yours Humanly. "We appreciate the City of Concord's belief in the work we do and look forward to putting this important early literacy project in place on behalf of children." Through a larger federal grant program, the City of Concord allocated a total $7 million in one-time funds to 22 local nonprofits serving the Concord community, Yours Humanly being one of those 22 organizations. "As a city that benefits from the contributions of so many wonderful nonprofit organizations, we are grateful for this unique, one-time opportunity to make a significant investment in their work," said Concord Mayor Laura Hoffmeister.
