Author Carol D. Mitchell Receives HERO AWARD

EMERYVILLE, Calif. - June 28, 2023 - PRLog -- In recognition of the energy, effort and inspiration she provided to those around her, on June 21, 2023, Bay Area African American writer, Carol Denise Mitchell received a Resilience and Determination (RAD) Hero Award at a Solstice event sponsored by The Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless Community/Consumer Advisory Board. Ms. Mitchell is truly an example in action of the strength and resilience of people experiencing homelessness in Alameda County. Ms. Mitchell is an inspiration to her Bay Area Community. In September, 2023, things were tough for the lauded Bay Area Author when she became homeless in Glendale, Arizona. Without the financial resources to come back to the Bay Area, after laying her beloved brother to rest, rising rents across the nation made it nearly impossible for the author of "Your Rights What Employers Do Not Want You to Know" to find adequate housing. Such challenges did not stop Ms. Mitchell from winning a book award, for "Ruthless Pamela Jean." Having no success in Arizona, in September, 2022, Ms. Mitchell drove back to her Bay Area roots and found housing through Yolanda Hichks of The Bay Area Community Services, Agency. With such great determination to survive homelessness, "BACS" nominated Ms. Mitchell for the RAD award, adding to many other accomplishments in the great writer's life. Having written books like Caring About Restoring Our Lives, that is archived in Glendale Public Library, in Glendale, Arizona, Ms. Mitchell is forever mindful of her dedication to healing abused children and helping the homeless throughout the nation.
