'Papá Cuatro' The Musical Returns To Miami

DORAL, Fla. - June 28, 2023 - PRLog -- MIAMI - Starting on July 6th, Miami audiences will once again have the opportunity to enjoy 'Papá Cuatro,' the musical produced by Miami New Drama and directed by Juan Souki, which became the theatrical success of the past summer in 2022.

'Papá Cuatro' tells the story of five immigrants united by music, portrayed in this world premiere musical by Miami New Drama titled 'Papá Cuatro,' which will be presented at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach from August 6th to 7th as the closing of its 2021-22 season.

'Papá Cuatro,' starring Mariaca Semprún, Miguel Siso, Eduardo Betancourt, Mafer Bandola, and Adolfo Herrera, "great and talented musicians who, when they emigrated, had to start from scratch, and in this play, they reveal for the first time who they were and who they are today," said Souki about the staging that reveals, like never before, the extraordinary story of a generation of Venezuelan musicians who were forced to leave their country, taking centuries of traditions and the joyful sound of the cuatro with them.

The cuatro is one of those few musical instruments capable of safeguarding traditions, culture, and identity. Throughout the centuries, this small four-string guitar has experienced a challenging journey, just like more than six million Venezuelans who mix with new cultures around the world every day.

A biographical and documentary endeavor that is musically interwoven with Venezuela's national instrument, which, like the play's protagonists, emerges as a traveler who, although "always arrives as a foreigner at the party, ends up playing like a local," added Souki.
