New Index Ranks Nearshore Destinations Based on Value

NEW YORK - July 13, 2023 - PRLog -- US-based publication Nearshore Americas (NSAM) recently announced the launch of the Nearshore Value Index (NVI) (https://nearshoreamericas.com/nearshore-value-index-2023/), designed to support investors and operators who demand insights around the most suitable locations for expansion in Latin America and Caribbean region. The NVI consists of two ranks, one for the business process sector and the other for software and digital technology services.

Officially presented during NSAM's Nexus 2023 (https://nexus2023.com/) event in June, the NVI measures the readiness of destinations for technology exports, English proficiency, ease of doing business, factors around proximity and access traveling from the US, population size and labor costs. In the specific case of the BPO list, the methodology takes real estate prices into consideration as the seventh factor, while the IT/digital list evaluated the availability and quality of tech universities.

"One of the main ideas behind the NVI is that the Nearshore is rich in potential for business, but much of that potential is left on the table due to a lack of exposure or even a preference for locations that are more 'tried and true'. All of the cities, countries and states included in the NVI offer excellent value that goes beyond cost, and many of them have for long remained under the shadow of the 'popular kids' in the region," said NSAM's Managing Editor César Cantú.

NSAM used its proprietary data and robust market knowledge to develop these rankings. NSAM also consulted various government and NGO databases, as well as third-party market analysts and service providers active in the analyzed locations. The destinations showcased in the NVI were chosen from a larger pool of 41 candidate locations, including cities and entire countries.

NSAM's research team underscored that this first edition of the NVI is a snapshot of the market in its current state. Internal or external forces could change the face of the region significantly, one of the reasons why the index will be updated annually.

"I expect to see a lot of movement within the next year. Circumstances can change for many of this year's top performers, for better or worse," Cantú pointed out.
