Dr Francis Lagattuta Md Dr. Frank Lagattuta is pleased to announce a settlement of a long-standing billing dispute with three government insurance entities. The settlement agreement between Dr. Lagattuta, Lags Spine and Sportscare Medical Centers, Inc., and the federal and state government entities clearly states that the doctor specifically denies the government insurers' claims in this billing dispute. "The government insurers asserted that the testing performed by the many individual physicians and other medical providers previously employed by the Medical Centers were not within their program testing and billing policy parameters or did not conform to their medical necessity directives," Dr. Lagattuta earlier operated more than thirty patient-oriented Centers with 40 medical providers and over 500 staff members caring for patients with chronic pain caused by a broad variety of illnesses and injuries. While the Centers are closed and the physicians are now engaged or employed in other medical practices, previously they and the other caring medical providers, under Dr. Lagattuta's supervision, carefully examined, tested, and treated their patients, when others might have been content to prescribe medication to mask pain. "Over 60,000 patients were examined and treated during almost two million visits during the period covered by the settlement agreement," said Mr. Segal. "Operating a diverse medical practice of that size, with so many locations, providers, and patients, inevitably leads to insurance claims disputes."
