COMMERCE, Mich. - July 17, 2023 - PRLog -- Does your filtered water have a bad taste or smell? How often are you replacing your filters?

Replacing your filters and regular maintenance to your water filter system is important to keep the system working properly. A clean system will filter out contaminants more efficiently, keeping your water clean while removing bad taste and smell.

General Maintenance

Assess your water filter system once a month. You should look for:
  • Proper installation – Water filters can perform poorly if not installed correctly. Each ProOne product has specific installation instructions (https://prooneusa.com/instructions/).
  • Leaks – For missing or broken parts, email support@prooneusa.com.
  • Cleanliness of filter housing – Filter housings can be washed with soap and warm water.

Replacing Filters

Have you noticed these signs in your water?
  • Change in taste or smell
  • White scale forming around faucet spouts
  • Low water pressure
  • Gunk in water

It may be time to replace your filters! Standard replacement dates are based on the type of filter and filter material. An under counter reverse osmosis filter needs to be replaced at a different frequency than an adsorption gravity water filter! How often you change the filter also depends on the chemistry and level of contaminants in your water.

Cleaning Filters

Gravity water filters should be scrubbed monthly with a sponge that comes with the filter. To clean it, hold the filter by the blue plastic base and place the ceramic portion under cool running water for about 2 minutes. Scrub the white ceramic material with the abrasive side of the sponge. Rinse well. Do NOT use any soap on the filter. Do NOT allow water to enter the stem of the filter. Lay filters on the side until ready to install.

Pre-sediment filters in under counter/countertop water filter systems and whole home systems need can be rinsed out.
