"Mission Happyness": Where Art & Community Unite to Create a Unique Event

OAK PARK, Ill. - Aug. 3, 2023 - PRLog -- OAK PARK, IL – Amanda Wilkerson, popularly known as Amawi, is delighted to announce an upcoming art show and interactive exhibit, "Mission Happyness," on August 5th, 2023, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S Marion St, Oak Park, IL 60302. This event is the first of a five-part series aimed at gathering resources, raising funds, and driving momentum for the making of the feature documentary film, "Who Knew 0052."

As a daughter, sister, artist, and multipreneur with a passion for art and science, Amawi is hosting this event in honor of Christopher D Wilkerson, a loving father, brother, son, uncle, cousin, co-worker, coach, and artist who tragically lost his life to cancer. Attendees are reminded to wear orange and blue and to bring photos of him as a contribution to the project.

The event will feature an art exhibit that pays homage to Wilkerson. His photos will be thoughtfully curated and displayed for attendees to appreciate. In addition, two short films exploring different aspects of art and culture will be screened.

"We invite everyone who knew Chris, and even those who didn't, to join us in this celebration of his contributions, his love for family, and his passion for documenting and living life," said Amawi. "We hope to commemorate his legacy, share stories, and gather materials for our documentary, which we believe will resonate with many."

Attendees are encouraged to wear orange and blue, and to bring their memories to share for the documentary, especially those who knew Wilkerson personally. For those who did not know him, the event will offer a unique opportunity to witness an artistic display of a life cut short by cancer.

The event will also include a retail experience, where attendees can purchase unique pieces of art and other merchandise related to the event. All proceeds will go towards the production of the "Who Knew 0052" documentary.

"This event is a chance for our community to come together, remember Christopher, and support a great cause," Amawi added. "We're looking forward to a beautifully vibrant and pleasantly emotional day."
