CEO says remote work is doing better than it seems

AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 7, 2023 - PRLog -- News that even remote work poster child Zoom is asking staff to return to physical offices gave remote workers a scare this weekend, leaving many concerned about their future fates and job security. But RemoteWorker.jobs is putting things in perspective and reassuring remote workers that it's the old way of working that's heading the way of the dinosaurs, not remote work.

RemoteWorker.jobs is an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire the top talent for remote positions.

According to RemoteWorker.jobs, the fact that some businesses choose return-to-office (RTO) mandates does not mean that remote work is ending on the whole — no matter how high-profile the business is. Rather, research suggests that most businesses that try to force workers to return back to the office will fail.

For instance, the Conference Board found that in cases where employees were "required" to return to the office, many workers simply flat-out ignored such demands in favor of keeping remote work. Another study, by Criteria Corp., confirmed that RTO makes employees more likely to resign, "quietly quit" or just have far lower morale than normal — leading to worse productivity and job performance. Meanwhile, Indeed found that job searches for remote work are at an all-time high in the US.

"The appetite for remote work hasn't faded, and won't anytime soon," said Joseph Boll, RemoteWorker.jobs CEO.

Further, Boll noted that Zoom is not even actually getting rid of remote work entirely but simply asking employees who happen to live nearby offices to work hybrid instead, coming into the office two days each week. The company's statement did not mention requiring any change for remote workers who do not live near its offices, and even noted that it will continue to hire remote workers, no matter whether they live near an office or not, in the future.

"Headlines are again making it seem like everything's going back to the way it was before COVID in the working world, but a little research will show that that's not actually the case," said Boll. "Remote and hybrid work are alive, well and prevalent, and resources like RemoteWorker.jobs are here to help people who want to work remotely make sure they have every opportunity to do so, easily."
