DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Aug. 10, 2023 - PRLog -- (Palm Beach County, FL – August 9, 2023) Activist and civil rights attorney Rabbi Barry Silver today announced that tonight's scheduled PROTECT Democracy Rally & Concert now has a new name:

"The purpose of tonight's event is to align all Progressives in our area to oppose the efforts of Governor Ron DeSantis to impose white Christian nationalism in Florida and beyond. I invite all supporters of rational thinking, abortion rights, progressive ideas, freedom in education, and defenders of our precious planet and all its inhabitants, human and otherwise, to join us in opposing the DeSantis regime's ongoing efforts to rewrite black history, oppose abortion, and deny climate change," says Rabbi Silver, who is widely known as the "Rabbi Rouser".

The OPPOSE DESANTIS Rally & Concert will be held tonight, from 7 to 9 pm, at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Road in Delray Beach (33446), and is "open to anyone interested in challenging right wing theocratic tyranny in America and actively resist their efforts to replace democracy with demagoguery, education with indoctrination and to torch our freedoms rather than let the torch of freedom burn brightly as a beacon of hope for the world. Learning nothing from the past, they threaten to reinstate the horrors of yesterday by aligning fascism with theocracy to bring out our worst impulses and destroy our nation.""

This thought-provoking and conscious-raising event is sponsored by WiN NOW, the Loxahatchee Group of the Sierra Club Florida Chapter, and Congregation L'Dor Va-Dor in Boynton Beach.

Among the critical issues to be discussed are:

• Climate Change
• Protecting the Ag Reserve
• Abortion Rights
• Education, not indoctrination; freedom in our universities
• Teaching evolution, not "junk science"
• Gun Control
• Protection of Democracy in America
• Holding insurrectionists responsible for their crimes

Live music at tonight's FREE event will be provided by the popular singing duo Pink Slip and Cantor Carol Garrett. Refreshments will be available.
