Firefighter Disaster Relief Fund Launched

Fund Now Open to Support Hawaii Firefighters Recover from Fires

VENTURA, Calif. - Aug. 16, 2023 - PRLog -- VENTURA - Today, the Ventura Fire Foundation launched the Firefighter Disaster Relief Fund to support firefighter families when disaster hits their community, or when they are deployed to other communities.

When disaster strikes, local firefighters are mobilized to respond, often leaving their own families and property at risk. As a result, it's not unusual for firefighters' familes to face disaster and recovery while their firefighters are away helping others.

"While there are many relief efforts for communtiies impacted by wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other disasters, few efforts focus their support on the firefighters themselves, who are away from their families helping those communities," said Joe Booth, executive director of the Ventura Fire Foundation. "As we're seeing now in Hawaii, firefighters often suffer like everyone else when tragedy strikes. We created the Firefighter Disaster Relief Fund to provide support for firefighters and their families, so they can recover and return to a sense of normalcy."
