Care for Friends honors Illinois Secretary of State, Alexi Giannoulias

CHICAGO - Aug. 22, 2023 - PRLog -- Care for Friends is thrilled to announce its upcoming annual benefit, Power Hope, and to celebrate the community members who contribute to making Chicago, and Illinois, a better place to call home.

On September 7th, Care for Friends will honor Secretary of State of Illinois, Alexi Giannoulias, 101.9 FM Mix D.J. Violeta Podrumedic, and others, at the annual Power Hope benefit and awards ceremony at Floating World Gallery (1925 N. Halsted).

Giannoulias has been a life-long community activist, served as the Illinois Treasurer from 2007- 2011, and was elected into his current office on January 9th, 2023. On his first day Secretary Giannoulias signed a wide-ranging Executive Ethics Order to improve transparency, enhance protections afforded to victims of sexual harassment or threats of violence, and simplify the public's ability to submit complaints to the Inspector General's office.

Podrumedic grew up in a restaurant family where she learned hard work, grit, and gained a passion for serving others. She is the on-air personality/Traffic Reporter on The Mix Morning Show.  Her passion for volunteerism started at a young age and continues today through her "Volunteer with Violeta" events that help highlight various organizations and show people how easy and rewarding it is to get involved.
