Nearly 90% of the Faucet Brands Listed for Sale on Amazon.com Violate State and Federal Laws

LINCOLN, Neb. - Aug. 24, 2023 - PRLog -- StarCraft Reviews has released the results of a comprehensive three-month study of drinking water faucets listed for sale on Amazon.com.

The study found that over 90% of the faucet brands listed for sale on Amazon's platform violate state and federal laws and regulations intended to ensure the reliability and safety of drinking water components.

These laws require comprehensive testing by accredited laboratories to ensure that faucets do not contaminate drinking water with harmful substances such as metallic lead. Federal law also requires sellers to register drinking water faucets with the Department of Energy. None of the contraband faucet bands listed on Amazon has complied with these and other legal mandates.

Chinese faucets are of particular concern for lead contamination and all but three contraband brands listed on Amazon sell Chinese-made faucets. China has no regulations banning or limiting lead in drinking water faucets.

Amazon makes no discernible effort to identify and ban traffickers in illegal faucets despite its promise to customers not to allow the sale of illegal or harmful products on its website.

On the contrary, the study found that Amazon itself is a trafficker, selling several brands of illegal faucets, and actively promotes the sale of contraband faucets by third-party sellers, awarding them "Highly Rated" and "Amazon Choice" designations to encourage sales.
