By: Writing By Rev The AP and other news outlets are reporting about the flood of AI spam. Social media sites confront a wave of spam accounts and posts. Consumers are struggling with low quality AI articles, an Amazon Kindle marketplace flooded with AI titles, and related frustrations. "Things are hitting a boiling point," says Leah Cohen, a standards compliance consultant. "In satisfaction surveys and support quality assurance... I see all the warning signs that even long-term loyal customers are looking to take their business elsewhere." Larger corporations are playing a gamble that their brand weight and the cost savings will work out. But many smaller businesses jumped on the bandwagon, attracted by overblown promises and impossibly low pricing. Some are expressing regret. "It is going to take several months to undo the damage... Customers tore me to shreds in a big Facebook Group over mistakes and falsehoods. Google started blacklisting my links," says Gary Bouchard, a second-hand goods reseller, "Never again." The "Google Factor" looms large. Alphabet has a long history of adapting its flagship service to exploits and spam. "Google has gone through several updates," according to Rev Casey, a writer and small business consultant. "They fight a constant battle against spam and garbage content. When they make a big update, it's going to be apocalyptic for a lot of enterprises." As the general public clamors for accuracy and authenticity, and companies face the consequences of worse-than-expected results, the labor of writers gains value. The average person wants to know they are interacting with and reading the work of real people. Writing by Rev is an enterprise launched by Rev Casey in response to these factors. "As customers demand authenticity," Ms. Cohen agrees, "Everyone is talking about ChatGPT. Promising 100% human expertise and oversight is an attractive assurance." Asked for comment, Mr. Bouchard says, "If you asked me a few months ago, I'd brush that off. Now? I'm done with AI. I'll only work with those who promise me real human work." ### About Writing By Rev Writing by Rev is a small writing and small business consulting enterprise operated by Rev Casey of Thought Punks, centering a promise of real human writing.
