FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Aug. 28, 2023 - PRLog -- Carmen Amato's historical fiction thriller novel, Murder at the Galliano Club has won the 2023 Silver Falchion Award for Best Historical at the Killer Nashville International Writer's Conference. Killer Nashville was recently named the #1 writer's conference in the United States by The Writer magazine.

Set in upstate New York during Prohibition, the award-winning novel pits a bartender who runs a social hub for Italian immigrants against an ambitious bootlegger looking to build a beer empire after being kicked out of Chicago by Al Capone. The novel's authentic details as well as the riveting murder mystery plot resonated with judges for the prestigious award.

Rome, the author's hometown, inspired the setting as did her grandfather's experiences as a deputy sheriff of Oneida County in the 1920s. Focusing on Rome's legacy as a key producer of copper for American manufacturing, the novel celebrates the immigrants who built America's industrial base during the Roaring Twenties.

Carmen Amato is a 30-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency. A 2019 inductee into the Rome Arts Hall of Fame, she is also the author of the award-winning Detective Emilia Cruz police series optioned by both NBCUniversal and Latin World Entertainment.

She is available for follow up questions, such as 1) how a Rome gal goes from LeMoyne College in Syracuse to the CIA, 2) which upstate locations inspired the award-winning Galliano Club books and 3) advice to fledgling writers, especially those thinking of writing as a second career.

Published by Laurel & Croton, in addition to Murder at the Galliano Club, the Galliano Club series includes a prequel and two other novels. Retailers receive a 55% discount from Ingram.
