Mustang - New, exciting road adventures in the "Forbidden" Kingdom launched

Aug. 29, 2023 - PRLog -- Exclusive custom Nepal tour and trek operator Snow Cat Travel has launched a brand new range of overland tours to explore the rarely visited, restricted access area of the former "Forbidden" Kingdom of Mustang in Nepal.

For centuries Mustang was "off limits" to visitors and it's only as recent as 1992 that tourists were allowed to enter the high altitude, wilderness lands that lie on the "roof the world". Even now a special permit is required to enter Mustang.

As a result Mustang and its royal capital, the ancient "walled city" of Lo Manthang has near mythical status and has long captured the romantic imagination of intrepid travellers.

But, until recently to reach Lo Manthang required many days of arduous trekking at relentless high altitude with only meagre accommodation or wild camping the only options available.

Nowadays Mustang and Lo Manthang can be reached by road and be explored by those who could once only dream of visiting, but were deterred by the physical challenges of hiking.

As well as welcoming, cosy, family run guest houses providing the creature comforts of private en suite bedrooms, there's even a couple of upmarket boutique heritage hotels in Mustang too.

Manager of Snow Cat Travel, Mark Knowles, explains, "We wanted our clients to be able to experience Mustang off the beaten track as much as possible. So, we sought the expertise of the people who know Mustang best, the local people and with the additional input of our specialist Mustang guides too.
