Emerging Nashville artist Sicasso is turning heads with her stunning Afrofuturistic paintings, currently on display at the Frist Art Museum's inspired exhibit "Afrofuturistic Visions: Dreamscapes of Sicasso." At just 24 years old, Sicasso is already generating buzz for her unique style that celebrates Black culture past, present, and future.

The Frist's exhibit showcases Sicasso's talent through a series of vivid vinyl prints featured in the Grand Lobby elevator. Her retro-futuristic works depict powerful Black figures exuding strength, confidence, and grace within psychedelic landscapes. Sicasso seamlessly blends surreal AI-generated art from Midjourney with Afrofuturistic elements to create an immersive visual experience that pays homage to iconic figures like Angela Davis.

By imagining her subjects in fantastical rainbow-hued realms, Sicasso stimulates the imagination and encourages viewers to reflect on African American identity, resilience, and excellence. Her meticulous approach in crafting each surreal dreamscape scene shines a spotlight on the diversity and dynamism of Black heritage.

As an abstract artist, Sicasso has always been captivated by color, form, and self-expression. After honing her skills and turning her passion into an entrepreneurial pursuit in 2020, Sicasso's star has continued to rise. She now runs a creative talent agency and has completed murals across Nashville in addition to exhibiting her paintings.

The Frist's exhibit was curated by student Samaria Jones, an emerging artist herself, as part of Project Uplift's mission to provide opportunities for HBCU students.
