Natalya Mytareva to be Honored as 2023 NCIHC Language Access Champion

WASHINGTON - Sept. 7, 2023 - PRLog -- The National Council on Interpreting in Health Care is honored to announce Natalya Mytareva as the 2023 Language Access Champion. Natalya will receive this formal recognition during the First Annual NCIHC Language Access Congress, September 28-29, 2023.

The board of the NCIHC has selected Natalya, current Executive Director of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and a Commissioner of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in appreciation of her major contributions to the healthcare interpreting profession in ensuring that persons of all races, nationalities, languages, and immigration status receive treatment that embodies the principles of equity, dignity, and choice. She has empowered and supported credentialed interpreters to fully participate in the care experience. Known for her leadership in conducting the first national Job Task Analysis study of the healthcare interpreter profession, she worked relentlessly on developing the CoreCHI and CHI-Spanish credentials.

Thanks to Natalya's initiatives numerous initiatives, more than 5,000 professional interpreters nationwide proudly hold CCHI credentials.

Natalya's commitment to volunteerism and service is invaluable to the healthcare interpreting profession. In today's healthcare language access landscape, she embodies the work of a language access advocate, ardently ensuring the competence of interpreter practitioners and serving as a catalyst for health equity and patient safety. As her nominators summarized Natalya's dedication, "she assures that the ultimate goal is that disadvantaged patients everywhere have a clear voice and equal access to quality care."
