PRLog -- A free webinar: Suddenly Single Parenting, will be held on September 27, 2023, 8:30-9:15 pm EST, sponsored by The National Widowers' Organization and moderated by Doneley Meris, a grief psychotherapist, bereavement counseling mentor and training consultant. Meris is the founder and executive director of HIV Arts Network. He was the director of bereavement services at the New York City LGBT Community Center and chair of both the HIV/AIDS and LGBT Committees at the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). Over the past four decades, he has trained and mentored graduate psychology and social work students as an adjunct faculty member at New York University and City University of New York's Hunter College. This webinar deals with the unique grief men suffer after the sudden loss of a spouse/partner from an unexpected natural catastrophe such as the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, and the war in Ukraine. Although individuals may prepare for these types of events, the results can be overwhelming when they strike them with the loss of a loved one. This session is aimed at widowers, clinicians, and anyone interested in supporting men grieving from a loss. The workshop will conclude with 15 minutes for Q & A. Registration is required, via The Men's Grief Network website (
http://mensgriefnetwork.org), navigate to webinars. For more information contact: info@nationalwidowers.org. The National Widowers' Organization, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to and promoting support for grieving men and their families through public awareness, education, research, and advocacy.
