It's also a time to celebrate the courage and community of those affected by this lifelong condition. The South Central Pennsylvania Sickle Cell Council has curated a variety of family-friendly events for the entire month of September. We warmly welcome you to attend, volunteer, or even sponsor these enriching activities. Upcoming Events September 9th, 10:00 AM - Sickle Cell Disease Walk, Run & Ride ๐ Start: Commonwealth Avenue ๐ End: City Island - 10:00 AM: Registration & Check-in - 10:45 AM: 1-Mile Walk Commences September 15th-17th - Red Illumination of the PA State Capitol ๐ Location: PA State Capitol, Harrisburg - The Capitol Building will glow in red as a beacon of support and awareness for SCD. September 17th-22nd - Lighting Up Walnut Street Bridge ๐ Location: Walnut Street Bridge - The bridge will be bathed in red light to stimulate dialogue about SCD and show our solidarity with those living with the disease. September 19th, 10:00 AM - Annual Media Briefing ๐ Location: Harrisburg Capitol Building Steps - Engage with community members affected by SCD and discover our groundbreaking initiatives for the upcoming year. September 29th, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Blood Drive & SCD Information Session ๐ Location: St. Paul's Baptist Church, Multipurpose Room - Contribute by donating blood and gain valuable insights into SCD.
