Better Together, First City Fellowship to host Oct. 5 community job and resource fair

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Sept. 13, 2023 - PRLog -- Better Together and First City Fellowship are partnering to host a community job fair for Leavenworth-area residents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Registration is now open for hiring employers and job seekers to participate in the October event. The church-based job fair not only connects job seekers with local employers who are ready to hire, but also provides resources to facilitate stronger connections and more hires. Free one-on-one job coaching sessions are also available to job seekers to review resumes and interviewing skills.

Participating employers include Academy Bank, Armed Forces Bank, AutoZone, Besel's Roofing & Heating, City of Leavenworth, FedEx Ground, Heatron, Leavenworth Unified School District 453, Saint John Hospital and UPS.

Better Together's community job fair program has helped 39,000 applicants connect with employment opportunities across 22 states. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of attendees get a job interview, and 1 in 4 receive a job offer on the spot. Some 70% find work within six weeks.

The Oct. 5 job fair will take place at Riverfront Community Center, located at 123 S. Esplanade St. in Leavenworth. Job seekers and employers can register at BetterTogetherUS.org/Events/Leavenworth or by texting "JOBS" to 844-987-3949.

Better Together is a nonprofit organization that helps parents going through a hard time keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. A privately funded and professionally supported organization, Better Together is made up of volunteers who believe helping people help themselves is the best way to restore dignity and bring families together.
