Follow on Google News | JazzArts brings Joshua Redman Group to the Queen City to Kick Off JAZZ ROOM Season 19 on October 6-7By: JazzArts Charlotte Joshua Redman will be featuring the premiere of his all-star quartet with Aaron Parks, Joe Sanders and Brian and performing music from his new Blue Note Records debut album Where Are We, featuring vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa. "These performances mark so many firsts. We are thrilled that Charlotte is one of the few cities on Redman's tour and are just as excited as our audience to hear his first collaboration with Cavassa and his all-star quartet," said JazzArts President and CEO Lonnie Davis. "We continue to be blown away by our audiences and the demand for tickets, so we highly recommend getting tickets early for what will be an amazing performance to launch Season 19." There are two JAZZROOM performances at 6:00PM and 8:15PM on Friday and 7:00pm and 9:15PM on Saturday at The Booth Playhouse, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, at 130 N. Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte. The complete lineup of Season 19 will be announced in the coming days. The JAZZ ROOM spotlights some of the nation's most gifted musicians, including top regional artists reimagining the sounds of legendary jazz artists in a casual, intimate setting with cabaret tables and a full bar. Limited tickets for all shows start at $20 ($10 for students) and can be purchased at www.carolinatix.org, by calling 704-372-1000, or purchased at the door for $25 for select shows. Having been displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, New Orleans native and JazzArts founder Lonnie Davis relocated to Charlotte. After noticing an extreme void of jazz culture, she founded JazzArts Charlotte (formally Jazz Arts Initiative) in 2009 to bring New Orleans' greatest gift – jazz music – to the Queen City.
