New 12 MW Solarfarm In Western Cape

STELLENBOSCH, South Africa - Sept. 15, 2023 - PRLog -- Cape   Town   -   A   new   12   MW   solar farm near   Stellenbosch region in   the   Western   Cape   will   soon   be   underway.   The   NMGAfrica Project,   will cover  30ha. The plant   will   have   an   installed   capacity   of   12   MWp   and   hope   to   be   operational November 2024. The project will feed power in   the   grid on a 66kV new sub extension and   can   generate   around   18   000   MWh   per   year   ,   enough clean   renewable   energy   to   power   more than   5000   households.   The plant is planned to generate virtually maintenance-free (with state-of-the-art GBG drone technology),   non-polluting energy,   over the course of its projected   25-year   lifespan. An added bonus is a CO2 saving of around 360   million tons   (at  $2  per ton   ). The project evaluation is based on 2MW battery storage capacity on the solar farm, which is a valuable addition to the local energy supply network. In July 2022 the President's Energy Plan was welcomed and Stellenbosch embraced the uptake of more regional energy. The project will be a boon for job creation and utilization of local engineering and expertise in its design and execution..
