BISWANATH CHARIALI, India - Sept. 15, 2023 - PRLog -- The Folk Tea Festival, an enchanting event that beautifully merges the tea industry with the rich folk culture of Assam, has become a cherished annual tradition. In 2023, this festival will once again illuminate a small tea garden nestled in the heart of Sonitpur district, creating an alternative narrative for Assam's tea industry. Spearheaded by Mrinal Talukdar, the chief organizer, this two-day extravaganza provides a vital platform for folk artists who hail not only from Assam but also from various corners of the country.

In the upcoming 2023 edition of the festival, scheduled for November 24 to 26 at Hatipoti Tea Estate in Pabhoi, Biswanath Chariali, a lineup of exceptionally talented artists will grace the stage. This includes Assamese singer and songwriter Rupam Bhuyan, who will collaborate with music producer Jim Ankan Deka to promise a soulful and captivating musical experience. Additionally, Arghadeep Baruah and his band, Bottle Rockets India, will deliver a mesmerizing performance of soulful and folk fusion music.

Alongside these musical treats, attendees can also expect the traditional 'Bhaona', the musical theatre of Assam, soul-stirring Baul music, captivating Jhumur and other traditional dances of different tribes, and a thought-provoking documentary by Samujjal Kashyap on the history and essence of Assam tea.

One of the festival's unique features is its commitment to authenticity. The artists perform without the aid of artificial lights or sound, relying solely on campfires and hurricane lamps. This creates an atmosphere of enchantment that captivates both artists and spectators alike.

Renowned filmmaker Reema Bora expressed her awe at the festival's innovative approach to showcasing folk culture. She fondly recalled her experience of sitting amidst the tea garden under a moonlit sky, surrounded by earthen lamps, and watching these folk artists mesmerize the audience.

Entrepreneur Manoj Basumatary emphasized the importance of sustaining such a platform, recognizing its value in bridging the gap between the tea industry and folk artists. Bhaskar Hazarika, a tea planter, beautifully summed up the essence of 'Lok Chai,' highlighting its role in blending tea, spirituality, folk culture, and adventure into a delightful package that offers something special to everyone who attends.

As the Folk Tea Festival steps into its 2023 edition, it continues to be a beacon of hope, preserving traditions, and nurturing the relationship between Assam's tea industry and its timeless folk culture.

The festival is supported by Everything Outdoor Northeast and OK North East. Media partner: Pratidin Time.
