PRLog -- Gun Rights Attorney Lynne Torgerson won an appeal from a denial of a permit to purchase out of Aitkin County. Ms. Torgerson's client was legal to possess and purchase firearms. He went in to the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office and applied for a Permit to Purchase. For the record, it is always best practice to first, apply for a permit to purchase, and not immediately seek a permit to carry. The permit to purchase will have a State authority declare that you are legal to purchase firearms before you actually possess a firearm. This is important, because in a permit to carry situation, you have to possess firearms, and if you are not legal, because you don't understand the law, you could be subject to criminal prosecution for possession of a firearm by an ineligible person. In any event, in the instant case, the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office erroneously denied Petitioner his Permit to Purchase. To be fair, Petitioner's record was confusing, and it made it appear that he was not legal. After significant legal research, Ms. Torgerson discovered that in fact, her client was actually legal to possess firearms. Hence, an appeal was taken from the denial. The Aitkin County Attorney's Office checked Ms. Torgerson's research, and agreed with Ms. Torgerson. Ms. Torgerson thusly obtained the issuance of a Permit to Purchase to her client. Well done Ms. Torgerson!
