WASHINGTON, N.H. - Oct. 6, 2023 - PRLog -- Author S.M. Stevens has been awarded the top honor in the 2023 American Fiction Awards competition in the novelette category for "The Wallace House of Pain." A novelette is longer than a short story and shorter than a novella.

The American Fiction Awards are sponsored by American Book Fest. The contest, which aims to honor excellence in fiction, is one of the largest book award competitions in the country, according to American Book Fest.

"American Book Fest is proud to announce the final results of our 6th Annual Fiction Award Program. Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists for their much deserved recognition," said American Book Fest President & CEO Jeffrey Keen.

"The Wallace House of Pain" is a portrait of troubled family relations, modern social justice issues and deeply personal choices. A Readers' Favorite review (https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/the-wallace-house-of-pain) of the book says: "Stevens tackles sensitive but relevant topics [and does] a wonderful and respectful job of bringing across a positive message of acceptance and love…I'm excited to read any future novels by this author and see what impact she has on the world today!"

"The Wallace House of Pain" is available in paperback and ebook format on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Wallace-House-Pain-Novelette/dp/B0...). The book's characters also feature in Stevens's forthcoming novel, "Beautiful and Terrible Things."

The Stage Version

"The Wallace House of Pain" has also been published in stage script format, in the Autumn 2023 issue of Choeofpleirn Press's (https://www.choeofpleirnpress.com/home) literary magazine, "Rushing Thru the Dark." Print copies of the magazine are available where books are sold. Digital copies are available on the publisher's website (https://www.choeofpleirnpress.com/bookstore).
