Follow on Google News | "NORTH, A Social Justice Horror Thriller" takes scary to another level, by Stravard Lux Publishing"There are some places in America that you just don't go...especially in the dark." That's the tagline of the screenplay for "NORTH". And it's what inspired us to do an interview with it's creator and writer, Yvette Kendall.
By: Stravard Lux Publishing & Distribution Co. "The experience has been a whirlwind since I first conceived the idea of NORTH in mid-November 2022. The concept came to me in flashes, and I got to writing. By January, it was done." We asked Kendall to explain what NORTH is about, and she shared this: "In short, the story is about the campaign slogan that ruined the world. That's what compelled the protagonist, Winston Gale, to write his infamous exposé in 2015. Unfortunately, that decision caused him to lose his job, which prompted him to make an impulsive journey with grave consequences for himself and his fiancée. Winston's knee-jerk decision to pay homage to his ancestors by recreating his own version of 'The Great Migration' quickly goes from bad to worse. While traveling NORTH from Atlanta to Chicago, the pair encounters a string of strange incidents, creatures, and eerie revelations that repeatedly threaten their lives in strange and terrorizing ways." Kendall went on to share, "By the time I completed it, I began to shop it around and had some very interesting meetings coming on the horizon. I was even asked to turn NORTH into a TV series, and I quickly began to write that as well. Then the writer's strike happened, and swiftly following that, the actor's strike followed. Because of the length of the strike, I decided to pivot and turn NORTH into a book as well." Intrigued, we then asked, How did that process go?: Kendall replied, "It was more in-depth than I anticipated. When you're writing a script, everything is bite-sized. When you're writing a book, everything is a full-course meal. I needed to create new characters and story arcs that weren't necessarily in the screenplay or the teleplay. The manuscript is being edited now, and I'm still writing a bit more as well. I plan to have 'NORTH, the Story' published by the end of this year." Kendall also explained that the people who have read the screenplay and/or the teleplay have offered ratings of 9 and 10 out of 10. Most liken it to an amalgamation of Jordan Peele's 'Get Out' and Misha Green's [HBO] 'Lovecraft Country.' For more information on Yvette Kendall and NORTH, visit www.norththehorrormovie.com End
