"West Rathlin Lighthouse: An Ingenious 'Upside Down' Beacon on Ireland's Coast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Oct. 10, 2023 - PRLog -- The West Rathlin Lighthouse is indeed a remarkable example of innovative lighthouse design and human engineering. Its inverted structure, with the light at the bottom, was a creative solution to the challenges posed by the island's unique geographical conditions, where the top cliff was often obscured by fog and low clouds.

The fact that it took nearly four years to complete and required the laborious mixing of concrete by hand underscores the significant effort invested in its construction. The construction of an inclined railway for transporting materials further demonstrates the dedication and ingenuity of those involved.
