Follow on Google News | PPGJLI's Aya Anthology Chosen as a Winner in Minnesota Author ProjectBy: Planting People Growing Justice PPGJLI won in the Communities Create category. The honor was celebrated during the 2023 Minnesota Library Association Annual Conference held Oct. 4-5 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. The Minnesota Author Project is an annual contest that encourages strong relationships between indie authors, local libraries, and readers. The organization identifies the best new authors and promotes their books to Minnesota public libraries. Founded by Dr. Artika Tyner, PPGJLI is a non-profit organization committed to educating and inspiring the next generation of leaders through reading, the arts, and a variety of youth-oriented initiatives. PPGJLI supports diverse voices and provides an opportunity to preserve African American history, culture, and perspective. The anthology is now in its second year and is the culmination of the organization's annual youth writing competition. The contest was open to Black youth of all ages across the African diaspora. The theme for this year's competition was "What is Racial Justice and Healing for You?" Entries encompassed fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and prose. Entrants who were chosen for inclusion in the anthology received a monetary award, a copy of the published book, and the distinction of being a published author.
