ST. PAUL, Minn. - Oct. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), has added another award to its growing list of accolades. Its "Aya: Anthology of Racial Justice, Healing and the Black Experience," has been chosen as the winner of the 2023 Minnesota Author Project.

PPGJLI won in the Communities Create category. The honor was celebrated during the 2023 Minnesota Library Association Annual Conference held Oct. 4-5 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.

The Minnesota Author Project is an annual contest that encourages strong relationships between indie authors, local libraries, and readers. The organization identifies the best new authors and promotes their books to Minnesota public libraries.

Founded by Dr. Artika Tyner, PPGJLI is a non-profit organization committed to educating and inspiring the next generation of leaders through reading, the arts, and a variety of youth-oriented initiatives. PPGJLI supports diverse voices and provides an opportunity to preserve African American history, culture, and perspective.

The anthology is now in its second year and is the culmination of the organization's annual youth writing competition. The contest was open to Black youth of all ages across the African diaspora.

The theme for this year's competition was "What is Racial Justice and Healing for You?" Entries encompassed fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and prose. Entrants who were chosen for inclusion in the anthology received a monetary award, a copy of the published book, and the distinction of being a published author.

The selection of "Aya: Anthology of Racial Justice, Healing and the Black Experience" as the winner of the 2023 Minnesota Author Project (https://www.mnwritesmnreads.org/minnesotaauthorproject/) is a measure of the impact that PPGJLI is making in the community and the future leaders of the nation. The anthology offers an invitation for Black youths to use their voices to lead and serve their communities. Copies of the anthology are now available on Amazon (https://tinyurl.com/bdddma3k) and at the PPGJ Press and Bookstore.
