New Book titled Walking with Anne Brontë by Tim Whittome

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 12, 2023 - PRLog -- "Anne Brontë has always been unfairly regarded as less talented than her more famous sisters and the "gentleness" of her reputation has been viewed in both a positive and a negative light," quoted Tim Whittome in a recent interview.  He continued, "We believe that Charlotte and Emily were geniuses and that their sister Anne was with them in a literary respect but very different from them in terms of how we should view the motivation and educational purpose of her work. In other words, we have no intention of staging a coup or of knocking Charlotte and Emily off their literary "thrones," but we do wish to add a third "throne," for Anne so that she gets the respect and notice she deserves. Reviews so far of Walking with Anne Brontëhave acknowledged the success of this purpose."

When asked what do you hope your readers take away from this book?  The author replied, "I hope that readers take away the view that Anne Brontë was as great a talent as Charlotte or Emily and that she deserves to be held in much the same regard as her two sisters are. Elizabeth Langland long ago said of Anne that she deserved to be placed 'with them' (her sisters) in terms of literary genius but that she should also be viewed as 'unlike them.'  We have interpreted this to mean that Anne's devotion to the truth would need to be expressed differently and in a more reforming literary tone of voice."

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Tim Whittome is originally from England and spent all of his childhood and early adulthood there. Although he is now living in Washington State, he has dual British and American citizenship and welcomes the benefits of both when traveling!

Tim first 'walked' with Anne Brontë when he was in his late twenties; and he has been inspired by her ever since. To borrow a phrase attributed to Anne, but which he and Brenda Whipps sadly cannot find the source of despite exhaustive search, Tim largely lives for the fact that "there are great books in this world and great worlds in books." He finds every character imaginable in adult, teen, and children's classical literature to be worthy of some form of love, emulation, humor, regret, loathing, or parenting—especially those works that have neurodivergent characters!
