Knobull Support Will Smooth The Path To A New Career

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Oct. 13, 2023 - PRLog -- Lynn Bentley, President of Knobull announced, "Once your head (and heart) have moved on, it can be tricky to claw your way back – but to be sure you're making the right decision, here are questions careers coaches like JobStars, located on the Knobull homepage, advise asking yourself."

IS IT A COMPLETE CAREER CHANGE YOU NEED OR JUST A NEW JOB?

The first thing to consider is whether you really need a whole new direction or simply a change of scene. Like everything in life, job satisfaction isn't linear, and there are bound to be highs and lows along the way.

HOW CAN YOU TEST OUT YOUR IDEAS IRL?

Once you've made up your mind that a career switch is the way to go, you'll need a (preferably non-binding) way of testing the waters. Too often, reality won't match up to your expectations – and it's far better to learn this before you've ditched your old job and salary.

WHAT'S HOLDING YOU BACK?

It's all well and good thinking about changing careers, but consider what's holding you back – or what will hold you back – from making it happen,

Pull together a list of all your fears and doubts in a column of 'what ifs' and go through what you will do if they come to pass. Think about how you will cope – there's always something you can learn and do, whatever the outcome.

ARE YOU WILLING TO DO WHAT IT TAKES?

Career change can take time, and it requires a lot of thought, hard work, commitment, resilience and determination. It's not for the faint-hearted. You need to be prepared (not necessarily 'ready', just willing) to move out of your comfort zone and put in the effort to turn your thinking into doing. The short-term pain is definitely worth it for the long-term gain though, that's for sure.

WILL YOU BE PROUD OF YOUR CAREER WHEN YOU RETIRE?

Bentley concluded, "There's nothing like a spot of future thinking to sharpen your focus. What do you see, when you're looking back on your life?

Research shows that focusing on future events can help us commit to making them happen, and can be a powerful motivator. Your JobStars career coach will help you decide which career path makes most sense."
