ATLANTA - Nov. 2, 2023 - PRLog -- Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) is delighted to announce the successful 8th Annual LEDI International Life Changers Awards Gala, held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Marriott Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway. FOX 5 Atlanta News Anchor Deidra Dukes graced the event as the esteemed Master of Ceremony, bringing a touch of grace and grandeur to the occasion.

Ms. Xernona Clayton, Honorary Gala Chair, elevated the event into an unforgettable evening of inspiration, philanthropy, and celebration under the evening's theme "A Journey of Hope – Transforming Dreams into Reality."

The gala spotlighted the remarkable achievements of the 2023 Honorees, Ambassador Andrew J. Young, Terri Badour; Nancy A. Flake Johnson; Mary Parker; and Eric M. Robbins, individuals who have shown unwavering dedication to social and economic empowerment both locally and globally. The event also paid homage to the late Mr. Thomas Dortch, Jr., Chairman Emeritus, 100 Black Men, Inc. and 2022 LEDI Honoree and LEDI/Liberia Bicentennial Ambassador, whose legacy continues to inspire.

While the evening was marked by grandeur and achievements, the fundraising goal of $200,000 was not met. Nonetheless, Rufus and Joan Darkortey, LEDI Co-Founders, Dr. Charles Gibbs, Executive Director of the 100 Black Men, Inc., and Xernona Clayton shared that they remain committed to the organization's mission and invite continued support from individuals and organizations.

"Though we didn't reach our financial goal, the support and enthusiasm from all attendees and sponsors have been overwhelming. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, and your contributions, whether big or small, continue to create a lasting impact in the lives of those we aim to serve," stated Rufus Darkortey.

Honorary Event Chair Xernona Clayton added, "This evening's success is a testament to the power of unity and purpose. Together, we can transform dreams into reality and make a meaningful change in the world."

Dr. Charles Gibbs shared that "The 100 Black Men of America looks forward to exploring future partnerships and collaborations with LEDI."

Funds raised during the event will be instrumental in completing the construction of Liberia's first modern public library and technology center, a pioneering $1.5 million project that will be a beacon of knowledge and opportunity for the people of Liberia.
