AKCP integrates with Greengrass IOT services from Amazon Web Services

Greengrass IOT is a service from Amazon Web Services (AWS). It enables organizations to run local computation of data for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, lowering latency and reliability by moving some of the cloud functions closer to the IoT devices at the network edge.

BAY AREA, Calif. - Nov. 6, 2023 - PRLog -- AWS Greengrass and Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) are closely related. MQTT is the primary protocol that Greengrass uses to communicate between the edge network and AWS cloud. In addition, within the local network, IoT devices can publish to an MQTT topic directly, without the need for going through the AWS cloud, lowering latency and bandwidth utilization.

AKCP, the world's oldest and largest manufacturer of networked, wired and wireless sensors, now integrates with Greengrass to bring the power of AWS cloud services to their devices. The University of Texas deployed AKCP sensorProbe+ devices and required integration to an Onlogic Helix Edge Computer for Greengrass. Sensor data from the AKCP devices communicate via MQTT to the Onlogic Helix Edge, a fanless, industrial computer, specifically designed for IoT edge applications. The computer comes preloaded with the AWS Greengrass Linux Stack.

AKCP sensorProbe+ devices are fully compliant with MQTT and MQTTS, allowing them to communicate with popular cloud services such as Microsoft Azure (https://www.akcp.com/articles/akcp-microsoft-azure-cloud-compatibility/) and AWS Greengrass. The sensorProbe+ connects to the AWS IoT Core via an MQTT broker such as Mosquito (https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/iot/how-to-bridge-mosquitto-mqtt-broker-to-aws-iot/).
