Lanardo Myrick Sr., Speaks out on the harsh Realities of being Underrepresented as a Black Man

In a candid conversation, Mr. Myrick expressed his concern about the underrepresentation and lack of support he encountered during his own criminal trials in his youth.

Having faced numerous legal battles, Lanardo Myrick Sr. has been a vocal advocate for justice reform, sharing his own experiences of struggling to secure proper legal counsel to appeal several cases. Despite his efforts, he has been met with discouragement and roadblocks, being told that he cannot pursue legal remedies for past convictions.

Mr. Myrick is troubled by what he perceives as a two-tiered justice system, citing the trial of former President Donald Trump as an example that gives him pause. He points out the disparities faced by African Americans in the legal system, emphasizing the urgent need for change.

Expressing disappointment in organizations such as the NAACP, Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM), and similar groups, Lanardo Myrick Sr. contends that they are falling short in ensuring that the poor and underserved receive proper representation in U.S. courts.

Reflecting on his past convictions, including an identity theft charge, Mr. Myrick revealed that his court-appointed attorney failed to adequately explain his rights. Furthermore, he alleged that he was pressured to cooperate with law enforcement by providing information on alleged "drug dealers" in exchange for a lighter sentence. Shockingly, his attorney even attempted to coerce his new wife into testifying against him, despite her having no involvement in the charges.

Lanardo Myrick Sr. passionately laments the prevalence of legal injustices faced by Black Americans and has resolved to take action. He announced plans to launch a funding drive and actively participate in criminal justice reform initiatives to address the disparities and hardships experienced by the African American community.
