Farmers Ready to Shop and Learn at Annual Southern Farm Show

RALEIGH, N.C. - Jan. 9, 2024 - PRLog -- Raleigh NC - The Southern Farm Show returns to the NC State Fairgrounds January 31 through February 2.  The largest annual agricultural exposition in the Carolinas and Virginia, it has been the major gathering place for farmers since 1978.  The show fills all the major buildings at the fairgrounds and supplements them with five large exhibit tents and acres of outdoor exhibits.

According to North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler "Farming is a tough business with thin profit margins so farmers must stay on top of every aspect of their business to be successful.  The Southern Farm Show makes it easy to compare and learn about new products and practices to plan for the future."

While the huge array of equipment, supplies and services on display from over 400 companies is impressive, farmers attending the show will tell you it's the know-how, as much as the products, they are seeking.  Factory representatives and experts from every field of agriculture are at the show to answer questions and share knowledge.

And while much of the knowledge is gained one-on-one, the show also offers a wide array of structured learning, from commodity meetings, to continuing education, to economic forums.  Organizations holding meetings and workshops at the show include the US Department of Agriculture, the NC Crop Improvement Association, the Tobacco Growers Association of NC, the NC Growers Association, and NC Department of Agriculture.

The show is also the region's largest display of both construction and professional landscape equipment with the majority of brands in those industries on hand.  The show is, however, not all business.  A lumberjack show sponsored by STIHL, and bluegrass entertainment provided the Farm Credit Associations of NC provide some fun for the estimated 30,000 who attend the show.  Other activities include Future Farmers of America tractor and truck competitions and a Duke Energy 'live line" demonstration.  The show ends with the Southern National Draft Horse Pull on Friday evening.

The Southern Farm Show runs January 31 through February 2. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. Admission and parking are free. For more information visit www.SouthernFarmShow.com .
