LITCHFIELD, Conn. - Jan. 10, 2024 - PRLog -- [BANTAM, CT] – The Tiny Abolitionist Film Festival is set to captivate audiences at Bantam Cinema & Arts Center on February 16 at 7:00 PM. Presented by The John Brown Project and the Berlin Equity Action Team, the event promises an engaging evening celebrating examples of American heroes in the struggle for abolition through short films, reenactment, and performance.

The festival will feature a compelling program, including the screening of two award-winning documentary films – "The 29th Connecticut" and "His Truth Is Marching On," both produced by CT organizations. "These films delve into abolition, equality, music, and American history, providing a nuanced exploration of the individuals' roles that were pivotal in shaping our nation's path forward," declares Dan Morrison, director of the John Brown Project and producer of His Truth is Marching On, "the point of these films is to highlight people in Connecticut's past who defended equality, and to broaden viewers understanding of how music shaped that."

"The 29th Connecticut," produced by Berlin Equity Action Team, chronicles the remarkable saga of Connecticut's 29th Colored Infantry, whose valor in the Civil War was pivotal in securing victory for the Union Army. This documentary short recently won the "Best Connecticut Film" award at the 2023 Mystic Film Festival.

"His Truth Is Marching On," produced by Culture 4 A Cause and the John Brown Project, weaves a mesmerizing tale of American music from 1619 to hip hop, centering around the Civil War song "John Brown's Body" – a musical tribute to Northwest Connecticut's own John Brown. This film received the 2023 Award of Merit from the CT League of History Organizations.

In addition to the screenings, attendees can look forward to a vibrant Harriet Tubman interpretation, an African drumming performance, enlightening speakers, and a Q&A session with the film producers. The festival serves as a platform to honor the legacies of Connecticut heroes who fought for equality in the United States.
