Donna Wedgeworth Appointed to the District Export Council of Washington

DALLAS & WASHINGTON - Jan. 31, 2024 - PRLog -- Torres Trade Law is pleased to announce that our Senior Trade Advisor, Donna Wedgeworth, has been appointed to the District Export Council of Washington. The Washington District Export Council (DEC) is comprised of a dedicated group of leaders who share their knowledge and expertise in international business to other exporters and export service providers to help grow exports for U.S. businesses in their local communities. Each member of the DEC is appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, who recognizes their special trade knowledge and commitment to supporting the export community. DEC members volunteer their time and expertise to participate in assisting small to medium-sized businesses in establishing and generating export sales. DEC members also attend numerous trade promotion events to advocate for economic growth within their communities.

Ms. Wedgeworth has practical operational insight on export compliance, including the development and implementation of comprehensive internal compliance training programs and responding to the challenges of audits, disclosures, fines, and sanctions arising from trade violations. She is highly skilled in helping clients successfully navigate the complex maze of U.S. trade laws and regulations, and regularly engages with the Departments of State, Commerce, and Trade, as well as Customs and Border Protection and other agencies regulating U.S. trade to ensure that clients meet their strategic and business objectives.

Ms. Wedgeworth has extensive experience with the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). She is particularly skilled in trade controls affecting the global marketplace for Aerospace and Defense technologies. Ms. Wedgeworth is certified as a Sanctions Specialist by the Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists and assists human and animal food importers and processors in developing strategies for maintaining and improving regulatory compliance under the Food and Drug Administration Foreign Supplier Verification Program.
