Follow on Google News | The Brick Search app solves the LEGO blind box problemBy: Tiro Media LTD LEGO fans have resorted to a range of tactics to counter the blind packaging – from feeling or weighing the contents or inserting a camera into a corner, to simply ripping the product open and, if they didn't like what they found inside, leaving the ruined item on the shelves. But the newest version of the Brick Search app has finally provided a solution. Scanning one of the larger data matrix codes on Series 25 LEGO Minifigures boxes will bring up an image of what's inside in seconds, allowing you to instantly pick out all your favourite characters. There are two different types of boxes, with two different sizes of data matrix codes printed next to the barcodes. You'll need to find and scan the larger data matrix codes, as the small codes don't contain enough information. Remember to cover the main barcode up with your finger while scanning too: you just want the app to read the large data matrix code. To access the minifigure scanner, simply download the Brick Search app and hit the blue barcode scanner button in the middle of the bottom menu bar. All you need to do then is point it at a minifigure box with a large data matrix code. Here's a quick step-by-step guide to the process: 1. Download the Brick Search app from the App Store or Google Play Store 2. Open the barcode scanner by hitting the blue button in the middle of the menu bar 3. -Point it at the large data matrix code on a Series 25 minifigure box Brick Search is available to download for free on iOS and Android. As well as scanning LEGO minifigure boxes, you can search through the entire back catalogue of LEGO sets, track your own collection, create a wishlist and hunt down the best LEGO deals. -- Notes for editors -- Brick Search is the LEGO set app from Tiro Media that allows you to track your collection, build a wishlist of sets, browse through every LEGO set ever, scan barcodes of recently-released sets and compare prices to make sure you're getting the best deal. LEGO Minifigures Series 25 is the second series to come in cardboard boxes, and the first to include scannable codes. The Brick Search app allows LEGO fans to scan these codes to see which minifigure is inside the otherwise blind packaging. Contact andrew@tiromedia.co.uk for more information. End
