IISE announces leadership election results

NORCROSS, Ga. - Feb. 1, 2024 - PRLog -- Don Greene, chief executive officer of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), announced election results for the association's new officers.

The newly elected positions on the 14-person Board of Trustees are:
  • President-elect: Sunderesh Heragu, Associate Dean, Regents Professor & Hendrix Chair, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, Oklahoma State University
  • Senior Vice President, North American Operations: Joel Brock, Partner of Retail and Operations Excellence, West Monroe
  • Senior Vice President, Continuing Education: Iris Rivero, Paul and Heidi Brown Preeminent Chair in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Chair of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, University of Florida
  • Senior Vice President, Academic: Ed Pohl, Dean, Graduate School & International Education, Professor of Industrial Engineering, University of Arkansas
Heragu is an IISE Fellow. He completed his B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering at Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, India (affiliated to University of Mysore), his MBA at University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada, and his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. "Having served on the Board of Trustees, I know the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for IISE," stated Heragu pre-election. "I will be focused on three goals: enhancing our profession's visibility to the broader society, domestically and internationally; increasing IISE membership; and securing IISE's financial future. My guiding principles are integrity, transparency, inclusion and growth."

Two posts were filled on the Technical Operations Board. Technical vice presidents are: Guiping Hu, Professor and Head Donald & Cathey Humphreys Chair, School of Industrial Engineering and Management, Oklahoma State University, and Brian Smith, Associate Professor, Undergraduate Coordinator, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mississippi State University.

Regional vice presidents were chosen for the following areas: South Central – Chris Tonn and North Central – Kathryn Eckhardt.

New officers are elected by IISE professional members and serve three-year terms beginning April 1.
