Fairy Tale in Motion: Ballet Arts and Adelphi Orchestra Present The Sleeping Beauty

EMERSON, N.J. - April 3, 2024 - PRLog -- In 1959, Disney enchanted audiences with "Sleeping Beauty," a timeless tale of a princess, her fairy godmothers, and their battle against an evil fairy. This beloved story, tracing back to medieval times, forms the foundation of one of the dance world's oldest and most cherished ballets.

On April 27th and 28th, Ballet Arts and Adelphi Orchestra will present "The Sleeping Beauty," a professional-caliber production orchestrated specifically for Adelphi Orchestra by John Longstaff, renowned for his work with ballet companies worldwide, including the Royal Ballet.

Featuring a diverse cast of local and professional youth and adult dancers, including guest artists Aarón De Jesús Marquez and Vince Pelegrin from the American Ballet Theatre, the performance showcases graduating seniors from the area in principal roles.

Roles such as Princess Aurora, the Bluebird, and the Lilac Fairy will be danced by students from schools like Tenafly High School and River Dell High School. Faculty members and adult students contribute to the ballet's richness, with Dr. Fred Fakharzadeh playing the King and Amy Brandt appearing as the Queen.

Keith Lomonico and Fraser Wilsher will perform alongside their daughters, embracing the sense of community within Ballet Arts. Adelphi Orchestra, celebrating its 70th year, will be conducted by Kyunghun Kim, a distinguished artistic director of symphonies in the U.S. and South Korea.

Under the directorship of Jane Silane and Marilyn Westlake-Nichols, Ballet Arts stands as one of New York and New Jersey's premiere ballet schools, recently endorsed by the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.
