Indie Bookstore Day was established in 2013 by the American Booksellers Association (a national not-for-profit trade organization) to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013, with over 900 stores participating across the country this year.

Our store has been a mainstay of downtown Lee's Summit for over 30 years, and we are deeply committed to developing a strong community by supporting local libraries and schools, as well as our neighboring businesses. In addition to stocking books and gifts for all ages, we host multiple book clubs, author signings, monthly storytimes, and seasonal children's activities, as well as participating in DTLS festivities, like summer Fourth Friday Art Walks, Open Houses, and Ladies Nights. We're passionate advocates for public libraries, freedom to read, small businesses, and local economies; active in the LS Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street organization; and members of the American Bookseller Association and the Midwest Independent Bookseller Association.
