World's Largest Spades Tournament Hits Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - May 10, 2024 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS - The world's largest Spades tournament, the World Spades Championship, will be held at the newly renovated Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from Oct. 2-5, 2024.

For the first time ever, more than 1,000 spades players will compete to be one of the top 64 players who walk away with a portion of the $1.6 million prize purse, including a $500,000 grand prize for the winner.  With the largest prize-purse in spades history, the World Spades Championship is guaranteed to bring an exciting and competitive in-person experience for spades players.

"Spades is a passion for me and many others. There are no other opportunities to compete in a Spades tournament as large or as competitive as the World Spades Championship," said Jason Elsenraat, Co-Founder of the WSC. "After many months of working through the details, we have created an event that I would compete in.  This tournament allows competitive players to showcase their skills and crown a true Champion of one of the most popular card games in the country. Spades, a trick-taking card game devised in the United States in the 1930s, has many iterations and can be played with a partner or solo, also known as "cutthroat". This three-day, six round, "cutthroat" tournament requires players to compete in multiple 3-hour sessions. Dealers, Pit Bosses and a first-of-its-kind electronic scoring system will be used to monitor sandbags and scores.

The Rio Hotel & Casino is one block off the Las Vegas Strip and boasts newly renovated 580 square-foot guest rooms, a three-acre pool paradise and an energetic 150,000 square-foot casino.
